The debate between Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Zelensky will in no way affect the election result. This opinion was expressed by MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Volodymyr Husak on the TV channel “Nash”.
According to the politician, the result of the second round is already practically known. “On April 21, the political era of President Poroshenko will be officially completed in the country,” the oppositionist said.
Volodymyr Husak recalled that in the first round only 16% of voters had supported the current head of state. Moreover, some of these votes were the result of bribery, and some – direct falsification, the politician believes. “I would not be surprised if Poroshenko gains even fewer votes in the second round. The chain of command is well aware that Poroshenko is leaving. In such a situation, no one will go on falsification,” the MP said.
Volodymyr Husak believes Poroshenko has no chance of re-election, so the debate will in no way affect the election result.
“The debate affected the election result of the 1994 race and possibly in 2004, when there was a real confrontation between Yanukovych and Yushchenko. And today it does not matter what the current president will say at the debates. For five years, every Ukrainian had the opportunity to evaluate Petro Poroshenko and to conclude whether his presidency brings benefit to Ukraine. For us now another is relevant – to hear the position of Volodymyr Zelensky on issues important for Ukraine, in particular, on joining NATO. It is not so important if will happen at debates or in the format of a press conference,” Volodymyr Husak concluded.
