During a speech from the parliamentary rostrum, one of the leaders of the opposition, Oleksandr Vilkul, said: “Naftohaz continues bullying. While you are splitting the country, information was released that Naftohaz would raise the price of gas for the population from June (plus 380 UAH/thousand cubic meters). This is despite the fact that On November 1, 2018, the authorities have already increased the price of gas by 23.5%, and since 2014 – almost ten times. At the same time, people did not become better off living. Most of them barely make ends meet. We require the Parliament to immediately consider a petition to lower the price of gas, according to which Naftohaz is prohibited from raising the price.”
Addressing the pro-government deputies, the oppositionist added: “Do not tell fables that it is impossible to reduce tariffs. Ukrainians should pay no more than 15% of their income for utilities, rather than 60-80%, as it is now. What is needed is the political will to put an end to the corrupt schemes of Naftohaz, abandon imported gas, as well as increase its production. These are real steps that could have been taken “yesterday”.
