This was stated by MP, head of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction Vadym Novynskyi in Izmail. On March 27, 2019, at the invitation and with the blessing of His Eminence Agafangel, Metropolitan of Odesa and Izmail, the parliamentarian took part in the traditional divine service in Izmail Pokrovsky Cathedral and the procession in honor of the Feodor icon of the Mother of God from the Cathedral to the St. Nicholas Izmail Monastery.
The prayer procession in Izmail has been held for 17 years in a row, and this year it brought together about five thousand people. According to the believers, on the eve of the election day fateful for the country they were united by a desire to unite in a single prayer for the future of Ukraine.
According to Vadym Novynskyi, his prayer over the past five years has been about peace and tranquility on the land of Odesa and in Ukraine as a whole, as well as about holding presidential elections quietly and without any violations.
“On March 31, the people should impeach President Poroshenko at the polling stations, we must do it. We should not extend his mandate for another term. Under Poroshenko, the country has descended to a catastrophic state. I urge everyone to come to the polls because the power belongs only to the people and only the people will determine who will lead our country in the next five years. It is necessary to come and vote with your heart. We need to believe not beautiful promises, but what a person has done in his life,” said Vadym Novynskyi, the leader of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction, the trustee of presidential candidate Oleksandr Vilkul.
The politician said that on March 31 he would hold election day in Odesa and vote for Oleksandr Vilkul at one of the polling stations in the Prymorsky district.
“Oleksandr Vilkul, at all stages of his career, from an assistant excavator at a mining and processing plant to the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, proved by his work that he is a successful person. And what is success? This is when you do your job with dignity, responsibly and honestly. Oleksandr Vilkul proved that he is capable of leading the state,” Vadym Novynskyi noted. The two-hour service and the procession for peace in Ukraine ended at the Poklonny Cross, which 18 years ago it was brought to St. Nicholas Izmail monastery from the Solovetsky monastery. Metropolitan Agafangel held a festive prayer service, thanked Vadym Novynskyi for the support of the canonical Orthodox Ukrainian Church and called on believers to take an active part in voting for the future president of the country.
