From the end of November, new rules for the transport of cash through the demarcation line have come into force. The order of the Ministry of Veterans and Internally Displaced Persons No. 92 regulates that a citizen can enter only UAH 20 thousand into the territory of the SADL regions. The former MP, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, Tetiana Bakhteieva, considers the establishment of such a boundary amount to be unreasonable and unmotivated.
“What explains this amount? Did the authors of Order No. 92 think about the life situations of Ukrainian citizens who are forced to cross the line of contact? People can be slashed to death of a relative and the expenses associated with burial or a serious illness of loved ones, requiring the purchase of expensive drugs, repair of housing damaged by shelling. There may be dozens of reasons requiring financial costs of more than UAH 20 thousand to help relatives, elderly parents who live in Donetsk and Luhansk, and many of whom are deprived of basic livelihoods,” the former MP said.
She emphasized that such restrictions humiliate Ukrainians. After all, every citizen of Ukraine has the right, at his discretion, to manage his money and freely move it around the territory of Ukraine.
“From Ukraine to other countries it is legally allowed to import and export without declaration a sum of money equivalent to EUR 10 thousand. And people who live in conditions of hostilities are internally displaced people and are forced to constantly move, cross the demarcation line with a risk to life, have restrictions 10 times more severe! What kind of justice is this?! That’s a scary!” Tetiana Bakhteieva summed up.
