The Prime Minister of the Opposition Government, Borys Kolesnikov, called the economic part of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement a deadly for Ukraine. He made such a statement during a working visit to the “Sady Donbasu” agricultural enterprise on Thursday, June 27.
“Five years ago, the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement was signed, which completely destroyed the food industry of Ukraine and agriculture. The power says: “There must be free competition.” Yes, it should be. But then it is necessary at least to provide loans to the villagers, such as in Poland - at 2.5-3%, ensure reclamation. Then there will be real competition, there will be a struggle for quality. And so it turns out that everything can be supplied from Europe without any restrictions, and there are quotas for every agricultural product in the delivery of products in Europe,” the opposition Prime Minister said.
At the same time, the politician considers the political part of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement acceptable. However, Ukraine is still in no hurry to implement this part of the Agreement.
“From a policy perspective, the Agreement is good. Fight against corruption, transparency - all this is necessary. But five years have passed, and honest courts have not been built. Whatever business you have – from a small garden to a large plant – the rights of investors and owners are not protected,” Borys Kolesnikov emphasized.
The consequence of failures in economic policy is the massive labor emigration of Ukrainians, the politician believes. “The economy is not developing, and people have left. At the same time, the power says to business: “People are leaving, which means that you should pay more!” And how to pay more if loans at 20%? What kind of business is it in such a case? What kind of development can we talk about?” the opposition Prime Minister emphasized.
Borys Kolesnikov is sure that it is necessary to close all inspection organizations and remain only the Ministry of Finance. “All revenues and costs should be in the hands of one ministry. The rest must be forgotten. No special services, police or prosecutors should be allowed to communicate with the business,” he said.
The Prime Minister of the Opposition Government also reminded that officials are people hired for taxpayer’s money. “Their task is to provide quality education, medicine and communal services. And until there is such an attitude, nothing will change,” Borys Kolesnikov concluded.
