Possible alliances with the European Union, NATO or the Customs Union lead Ukraine to the loss of sovereignty, stated MP Yevhen Muraiev on the talk show “Right to Power” on the “1 + 1” TV channel.
According to him, Ukraine should remain an independent country. “We believe that the only way to peace and development is the status of a non-aligned, neutral state. Any alliance deprives us of sovereignty. By joining the EU, we give part of the decision-making rights of this organization. The same situation is with NATO, and with the Customs Union. We must be independent. Then we will be equal. Otherwise, we will be perceived everywhere as second-rate,” the oppositionist said.
According to Yevhen Muraiev, Ukraine is not expected either in the European Union or in NATO. “Striving for NATO will mean continuing the conflict in the east of our country. This, in turn, is a kind of guard for Russia from rejecting us into the North Atlantic Alliance. NATO does not accept countries with a conflict on its territory. Therefore, the longer they talk about NATO, the longer the fighting in the east of the country will continue,” Yevhen Muraiev concluded.
