MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Volodymyr Husak called the decision of “Naftogaz” to reduce the cost of gas for the population by 30 kopecks from May 1, 2019 as the trick of fraudsters. According to him, the price of gas in world markets has dropped by 42%, while for the population it is reduced by only 3.5%. “This is a mockery of people. This is a typical cheating – raising gas prices for the population 10 times, and then reducing them by only 30 kopecks,” Volodymyr Husak was outraged.
According to him, the cost of gas for the population in Ukraine is already higher than world prices, and the minimum wage is almost four times less than the minimum wage in Poland.
The worst thing is that gas prices for the population are higher than for industry. In April, the Ukrainians paid for gas more than UAH 8500. At the border, industrial consumers buy it already at UAH 6900, and the price drops every day. Reducing the price by 30 kopecks is a mockery,” Volodymyr Husak emphasized.
According to the MP, the decision to reduce prices after the end of the heating season looks even more disgusting. “It turns out that this is a purely political move for future elections, rather than a real concern for the population,” Volodymyr Husak stated.
According to him, the fair price of gas for the population should be set at the level of UAH 6 per cubic meter. “But it is unlikely to happen. Because this is an excuse for the salary at the level of a million of the head of “Naftogaz”, Kobolev. In general, the money he receives could be spent on the development of own gas production. This will bring a much more significant result in reducing gas prices for the population than the maintenance of Kobolev,” the MP stated.
According to Volodymyr Husak, the OPPOSITION BLOC demands to restore gas supplies to the population at a reduced price. “Cheap gas from own production is enough for domestic consumption. We will definitely bring order to the energy sector immediately after the parliamentary elections. Because the current authorities, unfortunately, do not even have a strategy for the development and regulation of the energy market,” Volodymyr Husak stated.
