Volodymyr Husak: The second round of the presidential election is a vote of mistrust of the society to the still acting president

No debates will save Petro Poroshenko from losing the second round of the presidential election. This was stated by MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Volodymyr Husak on the TV channel “Priamyi” on Friday, April 5.

“Currently, Poroshenko’s team is trying to accentuate the topic of debate between presidential candidates, and besides the current “guarantor” ignored the debate in 2014. However, this discussion around the debate seems to me somewhat bloated. It is important to hear the position of Mr. Zelensky on many issues, in particular, on NATO, medical reform and his attitude to Uliana Suprun. However, whether these answers should be given in debates is not so important. The result of the second round is obvious. And neither analyzes nor debates will change anything,” the MP stated.

According to him, the very fact of the second round is a vote of mistrust in the current president and an assessment of his five-year activity by the Ukrainians. “Only 16% of Ukrainians supported the current president in the first round of elections. That is, the overwhelming majority of citizens of Ukraine assess his activity negatively. Based on the results of the first round, it is possible to predict the results of the second round. And they will be completely not in favor of Poroshenko,” the opposition politician said.

In the view of the MP, precisely because of the activities of Poroshenko, Ukraine now finds itself between an obvious evil and an incredible risk. “In such a situation, the OPPOSITION BLOC, of course, will not support the current president, who has brought Ukraine to an economic catastrophe, and Ukrainians – to impoverishment. However, we cannot support Zelensky. The opposition will focus on the upcoming parliamentary elections, which will decide the fate of the country,” Volodymyr Husak concluded.
