One of the leaders of the opposition, MP Oleksandr Vilkul believes that all those involved in the demolition of the monument to the Soviet commander Georgy Zhukov must be held accountable.
“For the sake of a few percent in the elections, the nationalists again smash monuments up and mock history. If the power wants, it can very quickly stop it, punish several overbearing thugs by law and stop financing its groups,” Vilkul wrote on his Facebook page.
According to the oppositionist, the events in Kharkiv today showed that the elections to the Verkhovna Rada would become another test for the country. “We must unite to stop this cynical lawlessness,” Vilkul emphasized.
