Residents of the Luhansk region are deprived of access to medical services, since all specialized medical institutions are located in uncontrolled territory. MPs must address this problem together with the Ministry of Health, because with the new leadership of the Ministry of Health, truly revolutionary changes can be in a domestic medicine. This was stated by MP, Victoriia Hryb, on her Facebook page.
As an example, she cited the story that happened last week in the city of Siverodonetsk, where the first meeting of the parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and the Reintegration of the Donbas was taking place for the first time. A few days earlier, the MP received a letter from Olena Ponomariova, a resident of the city of Schastie, in whose family grief happened: her brother Oleksandr Puchkun was seriously ill. Initially, the man was treated in Novoaydar, then in Siverodonetsk. But Oleksandr was getting worse. Heart disease added to ulcers.
“Without wasting time, I referred the matter of Olena Ponomariova to the Deputy Minister of Health, Mykhailo Zagriychuk, who, together with me, participated in a visiting meeting of the Committee. Did I hope for a quick reaction? Yes, of course. But I could not imagine that it would be lightning fast. He immediately contacted Siverodonetsk doctors and found out the patient’s condition. Then they decided to transport Oleksandr on a reanimobile to Kyiv.
Now he is under the supervision of doctors at the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine named after Amosov. The man’s condition is still serious, but there was hope. Previously, there was only despair. Soon, Oleksandr Puchkun will be operated on. Everything that depended on us, we did. And now we hope for the skill of doctors and the help of the Almighty,” Victoriia Hryb said.
The MP expressed gratitude to Mykhailo Zagriychuk. According to her, he could find a thousand reasons to refuse help, but did everything in his power. “Cooperation of the people's deputy with the Ministry should be like that,” the parliamentarian said.
According to Victoriia Hryb, the case of Oleksandr Puchkun is special, and the possibilities of the deputy minister are not unlimited. However, we see that currently people who care about the fate of ordinary Ukrainians are in the leadership positions in the Ministry of Health. It is important for them that residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions feel the care of the state.
“Oleksandr’s disease is also an indicator of the catastrophic situation that has developed in Ukrainian medicine. For example, residents of the Luhansk region are denied access to medical services, because all specialized medical institutions are located on uncontrolled territory. We will solve this problem together with the Ministry,” the MP emphasized.
“Today our task is to abolish the medical reform, which the new authorities inherited from their predecessors. It is necessary to significantly increase funding for medical facilities in the Donbas. I’m sure that with the new leadership of the Ministry of Health, Ukrainian medicine will have truly revolutionary changes,” Victoriia Hryb emphasized.
