Vadym Novynskyi: In a situation when the authorities turned away from war veterans, the OPPOSITION BLOC considers it its duty to help them

The head of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction, Vadym Novynskyi, on the eve of the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, congratulated the war veteran, Major General (retired) Volodymyr Kuzovenko.

In 1941, seventeen-year-old Volodymyr Kuzovenko volunteered to the front and went through the whole war. He was wounded four times. After the war, Volodymyr KUZOVENKO served in intelligence for 35 years. He was awarded with three orders of the Patriotic War, orders of the Red Star, Bohdan Khmelnitsky of 2nd and 3rd degrees, “For Service to the Motherland in the USSR Armed Forces”, as well as more than 30 USSR medals.

“During the war, I was a tanker, I had to call fire on myself surrounded, but I am proud that I hit two enemy tanks and six self-propelled rifles. I paid for it with a lot of battle wounds,” Volodymyr Kuzovenko shared his memories.

“Volodymyr Fedorovich, you are a real hero, whose personal contribution brought the Victory in the Great Patriotic War closer. And today you, veterans, play an important role in our society: you transmit young generations the values of valor, duty, honor, love for their native land. Thank you, Volodymyr Fedorovich, on behalf of all our colleagues,” the opposition leader Vadym Novynskyi said.

He added that in a situation when the authorities turned away from war veterans, the OPPOSITION BLOC considers it its duty to help them.

“We are grateful to those who defended our native land from the enemy at the cost of their own health or life. For us, this was and will be a feat, regardless of the attempts of the authorities to rewrite history, delete the Great Patriotic War from it, forget the veterans, replace Victory with sorrow. We will pass on the memory of May 9, 1945 to children and grandchildren. And Victory Day will always be a holiday for us,” Vadym Novynskyi.

Volodymyr Fedorovich sincerely thanked Vadym Novynskyi for his congratulations and support. “During the war years, victory and peace in our native land were a holy goal for us. And today we, veterans, want only one thing – to return peace in Ukraine.
