Vadym Novynskyi: Preserving the memory of the Victory and protecting veterans are priorities of the OPPOSITION BLOC

On May 9, in Kyiv, the head of the OPPOSITION BLOC faction, Vadym Novynskyi, with the opposition MPs, took part in the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The requiem for the dead Soviet soldiers who liberated their native land from fascism was headed by the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Onufriy.

Vadym Novynskyi, together with opposition members in memory of the heroism of the Ukrainian people in 1941-1945, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Park of Eternal Glory in Kyiv.

“In 1945, our grandfathers and fathers defeated Nazism, changing the future of humanity and giving hope for peace and harmony life for future generations. Our task today is to preserve this hope and not allow Nazism to be reborn and devalue the Victory by rewriting history. We must be worthy of the memory of the winners,” Vadym Novynskyi said, congratulating his fellow citizens on this great day.

Together with veterans and several thousand of Kyiv residents, the head of the opposition faction Vadym Novynskyi held a solemn march “Nobody is Forgotten, Nothing is Forgotten” with photos of relatives and friends of defense soldiers who served in the Soviet Army.

“Dear veterans! Your feat is timeless, as our infinite gratitude to all who defended their homeland, to whom we bow our heads low. On behalf of our political force and all like-minded people, I want to thank the veterans for rebuilding our state after the war. And today, veterans play an important public role – they transmit the values of valor, honor, love for their native land to young people.

We need young people brought up by the example of the feat of our heroic grandfathers. This is a guarantee that a country with a heroic past will have a decent future. Our direct responsibility is to pass on the memory of them to our children and grandchildren. We will seek the return of the names of the heroes of World War II to the renamed streets of cities and villages and the restoration of destroyed monuments,” Vadym Novynskyi said, addressing veterans.

He also added that the priority of the OPPOSITION BLOC is the return of decent social protection to veterans.
