Vadym Novynskyi: Relatives of the victims of Odesa Khatyn deserve to know the truth about the death of their loved ones

As a result of the tragedy in Odesa on May 2, 2014, which is called the “Odesa Khatyn”, 48 people died. But even five years later, the authorities do not seek to investigate those horrific events, still protecting the criminals.

Numerous attempts by the OPPOSITION BLOC to initiate an objective investigation of the Odesa tragedy run into the ruling coalition resistance.

“Even the previous composition of the Verkhovna Rada, created the Temporary Investigation Commission to investigate the tragedy, but, unfortunately, it did not come to objective conclusions regarding the events in Odesa. And the current composition of the Verkhovna Rada, who was elected in October 2014, was unable to objectively understand and evaluate what happened. Actually, it also concerns the concealment of other high-profile crimes that committed in Ukraine over the years and did not receive the necessary investigation,” Vadym Novynskyi told on the TV channel “NASH” on May 2.

In his view, this silence was mainly dictated by political motives. If the authorities are interested in the truth about the “Odesa Khatyn”, the investigation would have been carried out lawfully, honestly and objectively. And its results would have led to the highest offices of the current authorities headed by President Petro Poroshenko that is why they all protect the murderers.

“We have forgotten nothing, and we will do everything to complete the investigation of the Odesa tragedy, and perpetuate the memory of the dead. This is necessary not for those who died. It is necessary for us, alive, to learn from this terrible tragedy and to necessarily punish those who were guilty of this,” Vadym Novynskyi, head of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction said.
