Vadym Novynskyi: President enjoys the greatest support in the history of the country, and this can help the peace process in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy enjoys the greatest support of Ukrainians in the history of the country, and this can become a platform for the implementation of peace initiatives in Donbas. This opinion was expressed by MP, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee for the Reintegration of Donbas, Vadym Novynskyi, speaking about the results of negotiations in Paris.

According to him, the President of Ukraine is now making steady progress in resolving the situation in the Donbas and has enough resources for a positive solution to the situation. He also noted the contrast with which the team of the previous and current president of the country approached the problem of Donbas.

“Volodymyr Zelenskyy is an inexperienced politician, but a very sincere person, and sincerely wants to achieve peace. Eight months ago, no one thought about possibility to exchange prisoners, that they would sign the “Steinmeier formula,” the withdrawal of troops,” he said on air of the Russian “Channel One”.

The politician also pointed out the failure of nationalist groups that had marked the “red lines” on the Donbas issue for the president at the Paris negotiations.

“After Zelenskyy returned to Kyiv, we saw that everyone trying to “wrap” him with“ red lines ”turned out to be out of the game, and quickly turning into his camp saw that there was no any “hitch”. On the first day of the Verkhovna Rada meeting, in order not to lose pace, a law was introduced on the special status of Donbas, 320 MPs voted for it. This vote says that the Ukrainian leadership is ready to move on to the peace process,” the MP added.

According to him, Ukrainians support the president’s peace initiatives.

“Volodymyr Zelenskyy enjoys the full support of the Ukrainian people. He has a will and desire, he may be mistaken, but he wants to continue along the path of peace completely sincerely. I am sure that he will achieve this,” Novynskyi said.
