The Head of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction, Vadym Novynskyi, registered in Parliament the draft law No. 10288, which establishes state aid to the affected participants of the events of May 2, 2014. The purpose of the draft law is the determination of the procedure for the appointment and payment of state aid to affected participants and family members in the events that occurred on May 2, 2014 in Odesa.
The draft law defines the types and sizes of state aid to affected participants in the events that took place on May 2, 2014 in Odesa, and members of the families of the dead participants in the events that took place on May 2, 2014 in Odesa, as well as sources to cover the costs of this aid. The document instructs the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to approve the procedure for the appointment and payment of state aid to the affected participants of events and family members, and the list of documents necessary for the appointment of aid, as well as ensuring transparency in the compilation of lists of victims with the involvement of representatives of public human rights organizations and doctors who took part in assisting the victims.
According to the draft law, aid due to the death of a family member who participated in the events of May 2, 2014 in Odesa, is determined at the amount of UAH 1 million. Compensation for causing bodily harm of varying severity ranges from UAH 200 thousand to UAH 700 thousand.
In addition, the draft law of Vadym Novynskyi suggests amendments to a number of laws of Ukraine, including “On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection”. The Head of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction proposed to include in Article 7 “Persons who belong to persons with disabilities as a result of the war” of this Law a new paragraph 10, adding to the category of persons with disabilities also those who suffered during participation in the events of May 2, 2014. “May 2, 2014 is a tragedy and pain common to the whole country. To establish social aid from the state to the families of the victims is our duty. 47 families lost their relatives, 26 children were left orphans, 45 participants in the events are being detained without charge or trial. It is unacceptable to divide Ukrainians into those whose lives are worthy of memory and those whose are unworthy. The OPPOSITION BLOC will defend justice and insist on the establishment of social aid to the victims,” Vadym Novynskyi stated.
Recall, on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the Odesa tragedy, Vadym Novynskyi met with the families of the victims of May 2 in Odesa and those who are still in the absence of indictments in custody. Families with children received aid from the charity fund of the MP for recovery.
