MP Vadym Novynskyi welcomed the exchange of detained and convicted citizens between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
“For dozens of people, the real nightmare of prisons and camps has ended. Their families will celebrate this day for a long time as an important event in their life, as one of the most joyful days. Indeed, real human destinies, real people, their feelings and sufferings are behind the exchange process,” he said.
According to him, following the exchange of prisoners the process of normalization of relations between Ukraine and Russia begins, the Orthodox Church played an important role in these processes and in the restoration of peace.
“His Holiness Patriarch Cyril and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry have made great efforts to make today’s exchange a reality, and the potential of the Church is not exhausted. This is a very important, very tangible step towards real peace, which, I am sure, will soon come to the land of Ukraine, and relations between Ukraine and Russia will again become good-neighborly and fraternal, as they were throughout our history,” the MP emphasized.
