The head of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction, Vadym Novynskyi, took part in events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Odesa from the Nazi invaders.
On April 9, words of memory, festive marches and solemn speeches were heard at the monument “Rescued Childhood”, which is located on the territory of the National University “Odesa Law Academy” at the 4th station of the Big Fountain. At this place there were 23 orphanages, 14 workshops, as well as medical and educational schools. In 1940, the town was reorganized into the largest vocational school in Ukraine, where 1,500 students studied. Many of them died in the fight against fascism during the war.
“We, the Ukrainians are the victorious people, and we will not allow depriving us of this great victory. Unfortunately, the current rulers of the state are trying to rewrite history, rename the Great Patriotic War in World War II and change historical meanings. But they will fail. We will keep the memory of the feat and tell new generations about it,” Vadym Novynskyi is sure.
After laying flowers at the monument and a festive concert in honor of the anniversary, the participants of the celebrations were united in honoring the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. According to Vadym Novinsky, recognition of the feat and respect for the dignity, authority, wisdom and experience of older people is especially important today, because they not only brought peace to our land, but also raised not only one generation of worthy citizens of their country with their life example.
“Dear veterans! Dear inhabitants of Odessa! On behalf of the OPPOSITION BLOC and our voters from all regions of the country, I sincerely congratulate you on this great anniversary – the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Odesa from the Nazis. I want to thank our veterans for the feat they performed 75 years ago. 8 million Ukrainians died in the Great Patriotic War, of which only 2 million were on the front line, 6 million in the occupied territory. Children, women, old people, soldiers will live forever in our memory. This is a great victory that we obtained at the cost of huge losses. I bow down to you for it, veterans!” Vadym Novinskyi emphasized.
