Tatyana Bakhteeva: pseudo-reforms of the current Ukrainian government boost a demographic crisis in the country

The lack of social guarantees and inefficient work of the Ministry of Health discourages families from having kids. The member of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, an Opposition Bloc MP Tatyana Bakhteeva states this on her Facebook page.

The oppositionist pointed out that according to “Quality of life Index for Country 2019” annual research, Ukraine stands at the 62nd place among 71 countries of the world. “The first three places in the quality of life index are taken by Denmark, Switzerland and Finland. Ukraine is the lowest in quality of life among neighboring countries. For example, Belarus takes the 37th place, Lithuania is on the 29th, Latvia - on the 34th, and Poland - on the 35th place”, - the MP has emphasized.

According to the opposition politician the population continues to decline steadily, the demographic crisis is in full swing in Ukraine. “For every 100 Ukrainians who die only 59 are born. Over the years of independence Ukraine has dropped to 172 place in the world in terms of the birth rate”, - she stressed.

Tatyana Bakhteeva is convinced that the lack of social guarantees and inefficient work of the Ministry of Health, which the current government fails to secure, clearly discourages Ukrainian families to have children. “Young capable people leave the country in search of decent living standards and wages. Over 60% of Ukrainian citizens cannot afford healthy eating and healthcare because of meager wages and pensions. After the victory of Alexander Vilkul, it will be possible to rectify all the wrong-deeds the current authorities have done in four years”, - stated the member of the Parliamentary Committee on Health.
