The MP from Opposition Bloc Serhiy Sazhko stated that the current government made absolutely nothing to take the coal mining industry out the crisis situation that this very government has put it into.
“What kind of reforms are they talking about in the government if nothing has been made by the authorities in four years to take our coal mining enterprises out of the crisis? And I must add that this crisis was directly causes by the actions of this government. The miners of Selidovugol are on strike again. They see no perspectives, no future for themselves. They trust no promises from the government. More than 200 miners of the state enterprise have proclaimed another protest. Some of them refuse to go up from the mine”. – the politician stated.
He pointed out that despite the enormous deposits of coal that these mines have, despite the will and motivation of the miners to work, the enterprise is barely making it and even is not able to pay wages.
“I am sorry to say that miners’ strikes have become so common during past year. Only by imploring the power of the protest can these people attract attention of the government. And such attitude towards miners and their work is hardly normal. Our mines and towns of miners will not survive another five years of thoughtless politics and sheer indifference from the government. It is time for the radical change in the system that governs this industry and our entire country. And it will be done as soon as possible after Oleksandr Vilkul and the Opposition Bloc win the upcoming elections”, – Serhiy Sazhko summed up.
