Raising tariffs for shipping during the economic crisis, “Ukrzaliznitsya” drives coal state-owned enterprises into collapse. This was stated by Serhiy Sazhko, MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC, following the meeting of the State Regulatory Service.
“Ukrzaliznytsia” decided to raise tariffs for the transportation of goods by quarterly, and without taking into account the real cost structure and quality of services. In conditions when domestic coal industry goes down, the miners have not been paid for months and are on strike, the main cargo carrier is planning to raise prices. This is a disaster for our mines,” the opposition politician stated.
He noted that the tariff escalation on rail transportation hurts unprofitable state-owned coal enterprises. And this, in turn, creates risks for the stable operation of the entire energy market, especially during the heating season.
“Given the critical situation in the coal industry, it is important to understand all the consequences of such actions. It is unacceptable to solve your problems at the expense of others. I believe that it is possible to talk about raising tariffs only when the efficiency and transparency of the work of “Ukrzaliznytsia” will increase,” Serhiy Sazhko emphasized.
