Due to the unprecedented situation that has developed as a result of social irresponsibility of state power, the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction asks to include and urgently consider a package of legislative initiatives to reduce gas prices for the population in the agenda of the plenary sessions from February 26 to March 1, 2019 and write off debt for housing services.
While the IMF representatives positively assess the conscious removal of state power from the control over the price of gas, Ukrainian families are on the verge of poverty. For example, recently in an interview with the Ukrainian media, the permanent representative of the IMF in Ukraine, Goesta Ljungman, stated that controlling gas prices for Ukrainian families is ineffective in terms of providing social protection. The IMF is confident that an even greater increase in the price of gas for the population to the level of payment for industry will reduce the opportunities for corruption.
To reduce this unjustifiably high retail price for gas for ordinary people, the MPs from the OPPOSITION BLOC have developed proposals and submitted them for urgent consideration to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (draft resolutions No. 9267, No. 9414, No. 8667).
By the submitted resolutions, the OPPOSITION BLOC offers, first, to hear in the parliament the reports of the management of “Naftogaz” on the expediency of paying bonuses to employees of a company on a very large scale, as well as on the state of the oil and gas industry itself: from the policy of setting tariffs to reforming energy market.
In the search for a rational solution to reduce the level of prices for housing and communal services of Ukrainian households, the OPPOSITION BLOC considers it appropriate to consider the report of Ukrgazvidobuvannya JSC on the actual state of production and the cost of natural gas in Ukraine, as well as on the performance of the company.
An insurmountable burden for Ukrainians, especially IDPs and socially disadvantaged people, will be the increase in gas prices by the end of this year to UAH 12 000 per 1 thousand cubic meters. The paradox is that the authorities at this time declare full provision of Ukraine with their own gas.In addition, if the pricing policy of the housing and communal services of the population takes inflation into account, the OPPOSITION BLOC considers it logical to take this rationale into account for the corresponding increase and minimum wage, as well as the pensions of Ukrainians.
