Novynskyi and Vilkul submitted to the Parliament a draft Resolution that blocks the signing of the language law

Immediately after the pro-government coalition voted for the language law (No. 5670-e), one of the opposition leaders Oleksandr Vilkul submitted to the office of the Verkhovna Rada a draft Resolution prepared by him and the head of the OPPOSITION BLOC faction Vadym Novynskyi on cancellation of the voting results.

The reason was gross violations during putting to a vote and voting rules of Art. 37 of the Law of Ukraine on the Rules of the Verkhovna Rada and Art. 84 of the Constitution of Ukraine, requiring the deputies to vote personally. In addition, the Chair of the meeting, A. Parubiy, put the draft law to a vote, violating the procedure clearly described by the Rules of Procedure.

“The Ukrainian people did not delegate the right to violate the Constitution and push through the draft law on language splitting society with deception and violation of laws. If the coalition had no votes, the draft law should have been removed from consideration. We will seek its abolition at the Constitutional Court,” stated the head of the OPPOSITION BLOC Vadym Novynskyi.

“We acted clearly in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine. The draft Resolution was submitted immediately after the vote. There is the question – whether Parubiy will violate the legislation by signing this law without considering our draft Resolution,” Oleksandr Vilkul said.

According to him, the provocative language law violates the Constitution and contradicts the European norms of law, which Ukraine ratified and pledged to fulfill.
