The OPPOSITION BLOC registered the draft Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine No. 9269 with the requirement to return medical check-ups of pupils to schools. This was stated by the MP of the OPPOSITION BLOC Ihor Shurma following the meeting of the Committee on Health Protection of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the MP, currently in Ukraine there is no systematic work aimed at preventing morbidity of children of school age. The Ministry of Health by abolishing centralized preventive medical check-ups of schoolchildren, received a deteriorating state of health of children, their rapid fatigue, high rates of spread of viral diseases, as well as cases of deaths during physical training.
In view of the parliamentarian, self-examinations of adults and children are often of a formal nature. The situation is even worse in rural areas, where access to medical care is generally limited, he added.
“The lack of an objective assessment of children’s health ultimately leads to exorbitant physical exertion, which can lead to death of children during physical education classes. Today, according to statistics, no more than 25% of children can be considered healthy,” the politician emphasized.
The oppositionist is convinced that obligatory preventive medical check-ups of students are necessary for the early detection of their diseases, their further clinical supervision, planned treatment or rehabilitation in order to prevent massive collective diseases. “Such check-ups of schoolchildren should be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the WHO within the framework of the international project “Health and behavioral orientations of studying youth”, Ihor Shurma summarized.
