Yevhen Balytskyi: By language law, the authorities are trying to distract society from challenges in the state

The OPPOSITION BLOC categorically opposes the discriminatory language draft law No. 5670-d proposed by the authorities. This was stated by MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Yevhen Balytskyi on the TV channel “ZIK”.

According to the politician, the state needs to invest in the development of Ukrainian culture, cinema, youth, rather than split society by language laws.

“The OPPOSITION BLOC opposes the discriminatory draft law No. 5670-d, because in reality we have no infringement of the Ukrainian language. In general, the success of the country does not depend on the language of communication. Many countries use English as their own language and are very successful at the same time,” the oppositionist noted.

The politician recalled that in 1991, when Ukraine gained independence, all its citizens were guaranteed the right to communicate in their native language.

“Then the Constitution was adopted, where there is Article 10 enshrining this right. And the Basic Law itself was passed by people who really cared about their citizens,” Yevhen Balytskyi noted.

According to the MP, the OPPOSITION BLOC will vote against the adoption of the language draft law, as it splits society.

“For example, in Melitopol, 99% of the residents speak Russian, and when education in schools was translated into Ukrainian, this caused protest from people, because Russian is not the language of the occupier, it is our native language. Therefore, I categorically oppose splitting society according to the linguistic or religious principle by the authorities,” Yevhen Balytskyi emphasized.
