The bust of Marshal Zhukov in Kharkiv, who was pulled down by activists on June 2, will be restored soon. This was stated by the mayor of Kharkiv, Hennadii Kernes, during the 27th session of the Kharkiv City Council of the VII convocation, held today, June 19.
“The bust of Marshal Zhukov, who was impudently pulled down, will be restored. I hope that this will not happen again. Therefore, I propose to both parties – those who are for, and who are against: let’s behave tolerantly! After all, we live in the same city,” Hennadii Kernes called.
According to him, any decisions concerning the life of the city will be taken in a democratic way. “Everything will be decided by the method “for – against”. The minority must obey,” Hennadii Kernes emphasized.
Recall that also today at the session of the Kharkiv City Council it was decided to return the historic name to Marshal Zhukov Avenue, which in 2016 was named after Petro Hryhorenko. 59 deputies of the City Council voted for.
