Oleksandr Vilkul met with the Head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Onuphrius

Today, the Orthodox celebrate a big church holiday – “The Triumph of Orthodoxy”. Oppositionists Oleksandr Vilkul and Vadym Novynskyi took part in a solemn service at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which was held by the Head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Onuphrius. Hundreds of lay people took part in the celebration in the church and the Procession.

After the service, His Beatitude Onuphrius met with Oleksandr Vilkul to discuss the protection of the true faith and the canonical church, the need to stop the interference of the authorities and radicals in the church affairs and the preservation of Orthodox shrines.

Orthodoxy and our country is experiencing the hardest times of turmoil and schism. It was like that. A thousand years ago, in order to please the worldly rulers, our church almost died. The holiday “The Triumph of Orthodoxy”, which we celebrate today, is a holiday of victory over schism and victory over heresy. Our church stood up. Our country and our holy Orthodox faith will stand up this time,” Oleksandr Vilkul wrote on his Facebook page.
