Oleksandr Dolzhenkov: Only the OPPOSITION BLOC protects the rights of the Russian-speaking population

When representatives of the coalition during the election campaign promise people to return the Donbas, this causes a discord with the policies they implement. This was said by MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Oleksandr Dolzhenkov during the discussion of the draft law on language.

“We will go to the Constitutional Court with the submission on the recognition of this law as unconstitutional. Indeed, in essence, it speaks of direct discrimination against the languages of national minorities,” the oppositionist appealed to representatives of the coalition.

According to Oleksandr Dolzhenkov, the draft law No. 5670-d pays special attention to the Crimean Tatar language, unlike the Russian one. At the same time, the pharisaism of those MPs who, supporting this draft law, communicate in Russian, and not Ukrainian or Crimean Tatar after the plenary sessions, surprises. “You are making such a bias towards Ukrainian, as if there are no other languages in Ukraine at all,” the MP stressed.

The opposition MP also drew attention of the MPs to the discrimination of Russian-language print media, while the norms of the draft law No. 5670-d make an exception for the media in the Crimean Tatar, English and other languages of the European Union.

“Don’t you know what language most Ukrainians speak?” In your opinion, is it Crimean Tatar or English, that is why you are protecting these languages? Why is the ruling majority ignoring the rights of the Russian-speaking population, guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine?” Oleksandr Dolzhenkov was indignant.
