Carrying out the reform of the Verkhovna Rada, representatives of the coalition allow unprecedented discrimination, infringement of authority and violation of the rights of opposition factions. This was stated by MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Oleksandr Dolzhenkov.
According to him, so far, the Central Election Commission, which exercises public control over electoral processes, has no opposition representative. “This is a key injustice – such an unprecedented discriminatory attitude regarding the opposition forces,” the politician said.
The OPPOSITION BLOC faction insists on the adoption of a law on the opposition, which, in order to avoid a monopoly by the pro-government majority, involves the participation of opposition representatives in the Central Election Commission, the Accounting Chamber, the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting. This also applies to the principle of redistribution of leadership positions in parliamentary committees, which was previously declared in the coalition agreement on strengthening the opposition forces, and then “successfully” was ignored by the majority.
“The Verkhovna Rada of the next convocation should not repeat the mistakes of this coalition, and the control functions should be conditionally redistributed among all factions of those political parties that will get into the Verkhovna Rada. After all, the Parliament is a collegial body that represents the interests of the entire Ukrainian society, and no political force should be removed from the process of parliamentary control!” the oppositionist said.
