Oleksandr Dolzhenkov: Yuriy Lutsenko’s reluctance to resign guarantees immunity for Petro Poroshenko and his entourage

The phrase of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko “I respect the choice of the people” testifies exclusively to his double standards as a government official. After all, if this were true, Yuriy Lutsenko would certainly have resigned. Oleksandr Dolzhenkov, MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC faction commented on the “Nash” TV channel on the consequences of the appointments of the heads of security agencies by the ruling coalition in violation of the Constitution of Ukraine and the Rules of the Verkhovna Rada.

“Yuriy Lutsenko’s reluctance to resign during the inter-election period is the main guarantee of the immunity for the ex-president Petro Poroshenko and his entourage,” the oppositionist emphasized.

Oleksandr Dolzhenkov is sure that the process of degradation of this parliament began at a time when the ruling coalition allowed itself to make decisions in violation of the Constitution of Ukraine and the Rules of the Verkhovna Rada. Proof of this, according to the politician, is the decision to return to the Constitution of Ukraine in the 2004 edition.

The MP also reminded about the odious appointments of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov and the Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko. In order to provide additional, previously unusual, powers to the heads of law enforcement agencies, the MPs of the “European Ukraine” coalition first changed the relevant specialized laws, and then made an appointment.

“Regarding Yuriy Lutsenko, this is a generally blatant high-profile situation, when the law enforcement agency is headed by an unqualified person without a legal education. For the sake of this appointment, changes were made to the legislation, and now the position of the Prosecutor General may be held by a citizen of Ukraine without a higher legal education,” the oppositionist noted.

According to Oleksandr Dolzhenkov, this is the evidence of the conjuncture policy implemented by the coalition formed in 2014. “The law is for enemies, and permissiveness is for friends,” the oppositionist summarized.
